Retiring

This is a guest blog from the husband. It is official!!! I submitted my letter today. June 25th will be my last day at Palo Verde High School. I will be officially retired. What a feeling. People keep asking me why I have a big grin on my face. It is the same grin I had the day I was released as Bishop.
It is the relief grin. I now tell people that I have the answers to all of the problems in education. Retirement. Now its your problem not mine.

All we have to do is fix up and sell two properties in a bad market and then we will be ready to head to our (well, almost ours) new house in North Carolina.

I guess that means you won't be around to help US move if need be! :) Selfish parents! Congrats on retirement pops - can't wait to have you come visit us and see some church history.

It depends when you move. If it's after June 25 we'll be there. When my parents retired and moved. All of the kids came and helped them. Paul and I drove the Uhaul. Are we getting any offers?

I wish my district was hurting enough to give us an early retirement incentive! Congrats!

Let's see - do I want to help you move from Blythe in the middle of the summer?! Oh wait, I'll have a newborn - I'm off the hook. :) We'll come visit you in Charlotte and help you unpack :)

Christie says she'll be too pregnant, and I have to stay to watch the girls in case she goes into premature labor.

Maybe there's some Scouts who want to earn the Truck Transportation merit badge?

We will be down to help you with your mega yard sale in March. Possibly help you pack up if you do it on a weekend but it will depend if Aaron has a busy internship. We hope he gets a job with weekends off like me but we will see!

How did we end up with the same departure date? Mine is because it is the end of the first quarter after my birthdate so I don't think that works for you. Seriously, I totally agree with that great feeling of relief. These next few months should be a breeze- and I'm not looking back. But, the high school will miss you. I only hear good about you as principal and they had their share of "not so good" principals. My announcement brought a few drivers to tears on Friday and there will be some more shed in June I'm sure, but still worth it!

Woo-hoo! We will have to see how Levi's back is doing. Maybe he can help if it won't break him... haha! We are happy to have you close!

Well, we know there will be a crowd here to move you in. Besides your sons and son-in-law, our ward is AWESOME about moving people in.

Seriously though, we need to talk about what we can do to help get you out here. I am trying to figure out it would be helpful for me to go to Blythe (with my baby of course) and help pack up.

I'd love to come help you guys with the move. I should be able to take a few days off work but would have to find a cheap flight out there. Don't you plan on paying a company to drive the truck here for you?
