Another Day, another dollar...

well, maybe more than that...

We are home . The insurance nixed the brain scan so we drove home. Actually they didn't nix it, they are thinking about it! It isn't a necessity; the Doctor wanted it, and we could get it without the insurance. Hmm...not necessity at, what, $8000.00. I think not!

These two days (Monday and Tuesday) were hard, but I think it might be worth it. I woke up at 7:00 and went back to bed at 9:00 and slept til Bob woke me up at 11:39. Poor Bob, he drove each night.

During in the course of Monday, he told us that he would give the injection on Wednesday or maybe Tuesday. Then he told he wanted to wait until he came from his vacation in 3 weeks. He wanted me to introduce fish oil and baby aspirin in my system before I would get the medicine. I've been swallowing fish oil for an year or more! (Of course he wanted a different fish oil.)

First thing Tuesday, Bob said to the doctor that we came to get the medinice and he told the doctor that all of the studies agree that fish oil and aspirin do not help PPA and we came for the medicine!!! Bob is my prince who slew the dragon! The doctor finally agreed too, and I was told I would get my injection today! And I got my evaluation.

First a physical evaluation: it was all about my strength. The doctor was surprised how strong I was. (These doctor are used to patients in the 70's!)

Second evaluation for the brain: Simple math, read, write a sentence, look at pictures like a house, a beaver, a rhinoceros, an easel...etc... Then I was the star of a video, looking stupid when they did it again and I couldn't get so many things wrong!!! That was the BEFORE video.

My body is strong, but my brain needs help!

Finally, I got my injection. The injection was in the neck. The doctor told me that it wouldn't hurt. So, when he poked me I had to say "It hurts, it hurts...Just kidding". Bob said the doctor was worried, good thing that I said "just kidding" quickly! At that point, I realized that he might take the needle out. Luckily, he didn't and he laughed and me too! Did you know when you laugh, your neck moves? I was on a chair and I tucked my chin to the chest. Then I turned over in the chair. The chair is an inverting chair, and I was upside down for 5 1/2 minutes. Somebody held my feet during the 5 1/2 minutes. Then I turned over while they were getting the chair up. After questions like "How do you feel?", etc.. and told me to take a walk to the elevator and back. They were surprised that it was short. (Hello, I'm not an old woman)!

AFTER video (about 15 minutes after the injection): I thought it was horrible, but Bob thought I was better. I think, that right now, I know it is easier to write this blog. And I only went to the dictionary for 4 words and one spellcheck!

We have another appointment on December 16th (and pick up the Wright's at the Ontario Airport!!!!).

On the Road to LA

This is Bob. I'm posting for Linda. We drove into Los Angeles today to see a Doctor that has a promising experimental treatment for PPA. He works out of the UCLA Medical Clinic in Westwood. The afternoon was filled with a consultation and some blood work. The Dr. is going on a 3 week vacation beginning Friday, so we asked him to expedite his evaluation and begin treatment as soon as possible. He agreed to start his evaluation tomorrow. He also scheduled a PET C-T on the brain for Wednesday. We came to LA planning to only spend the day not three days. So we drove home (arriving at 11 PM) and we will drive back tomorrow, prepared to stay as long as it takes. This may become a weekly ritual. This place is only a couple of miles from the LA Temple, so we will be spending some time there.

Of course we are very hopeful. If you want to see the Dr.'s website go to http://www.nrimed.com/.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I Love Halloween!

Last year, I threw the old bean bag game for our Trunk 'N Treat, so I made another one. I had so much fun doing it! I like it.

Chica's post

Hmmm.....What is that?

"What's she doing"

"What are you doing??????"

" Hey, she left, time to get out of here........

"Can I jump?"............. "I don't think so"..... "What's she thinking"...."I'm too old, and she is too!" ..."She should understand"...

"What is happening? What is that thing making noise!? I don't like this, at all! "

"Well, I guess it wasn't that bad. Good thing I'm not vain."
"Hey , where are you?"
"Hey, I want my collar"

Well, I 'm still sick, but it's not that bad. Both Bob and I are still coughing. It's 5 weeks for Bob and 4 weeks for me.

We are going to Texas to visit the Blairs November 6th! I can't wait to see them, but I don't want to give this to them!!!

So we got more antibiotic meds, hoping to help. Well, the Patient Education info states: "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH at least 1 hour or 2 hours after eating...." The next directions; "THIS MEDICINE MAY BE TAKEN WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach..." We laughed as I popped the pill in my mouth. Bob left to school and I went to check the blogs and wait to eat my breakfast. Within 15 minutes, my tummy was churning. Oh, no! After another 15 minutes of churning I decided that my stomach was upset. So I ate, even though I didn't want to eat. I chose to eat yogurt, something easy on my tummy. It didn't work. I lost it, anyway! YUK!

I have to "TAKE 1 CAPSULE BY MOUTH TWO TIMES A DAY" So, should I use the meds or forget it? Then I thought about Elizabeth and Amelia. I decided to take the medicine last night "2 hours after eating" and I was good. This morning I ate a yogurt and I am waiting to eat more food "2 hours after eating" again.

I hope it works this morning. And this is the end of blogging about my stupid, long nasty cough! I Promise.

I'M SICK :(

I had a nasty cough for 2 1/2 weeks and it isn't getting any better. I thought I would get over it before we went to Fullerton and Covina. I had to call to cancel on Friday. We didn't want anyone to get it! I stayed in the house on Saturday and I ditched after Sacrament Meeting (but I went back to church after Relief Meeting for a meeting about the Trunk 'N Treat). It was that bad.

I always say that I never get sick. I got a cold last fall/winter. And now I am sick this year. I can't say that any more.

I even went to the Doctor today. He listened my lungs and said "I think you have pneumonia." So I got two X-rays. Luckily, my lungs are clear. I got some narcotic cough suppressant and some antibiotic pills with many warnings. If you know me, I really looked long to decide if I wanted to use the meds. I read all of pages of info. Which makes me worry.

Now, there is a chance that Bryce might get a ride to Blythe Oct.17-18. If he doesn't come, we still want to see Aaron and Jamie, plus my parents. I really want to be healthy soon. So, I guess I'm going to use the meds. I such hate all the side effects and warnings. I don't trust doctors, in fact, the Dr. today didn't any questions about other meds I might using (none: but he didn't know). And he never tells the side effects or warnings....I think the Doctor should at least tell what the medicines are and why he is prescribing the medicines.

Does anyone thinks like me!?

Empty Nest Syndrome?

Bryce went to High Adventure this week. It was really quiet and I found that I will miss him when he goes to college (Dixie State...Go Rebels)!

Everyone asks me if I will cry when he goes to college....I probably won't cry, but I will be sad. He is a good kid, and I have fun with him. He has grown this year, and he is ready to fly the coop! I think that I am ready for him to go! But I will miss him!

I'll miss him talking to me about his day, hearing his music, his funny jokes and his friends. I will miss his strength; and not just his physical strength. He has strength in other ways. He is an example for his friends, and he has many. His friends include little kids, his peers and most adults. I like that he is comfortable with all ages. And the nieces and nephews love him!, too!
He's a good guy. If the bishop or YM president asks hime to help, whateverit is, he will do it without complaining. His friends know that he is there for them; help with homework, a ride, or a party at our house! Every time someone moves in or out, Bryce is there!
Bryce is strong inside. He knows what is right and he makes good choices. He knows who he is, even if he doesn't realize sometimes. He isn't perfect, but he's on the right road!
Yep, he is a good person. I like him. And I will miss him.... a lot, (and I might cry a little).

Leave A Memory (I am not dying or anything)

I got this from Christie's blog and she got it from Meredith's blog!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave a memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! If we're only blogging friends, write about a post that is most memorable.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll be sure to write one about you... either on your blog, in my comment box, or I will email you back!

3. If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin' at all ☺....thats not true---go ahead and say it---see if it changes anything!

Granny's Grandkids

Drumroll, please......and if you could see me right now, you would see

me smiling.... because the name on my paper is...... Gabriel Robert Coleman

Age 2 years and 9 1/2 months

I was in Charlotte when Gabe was born. I was so thankful to be there! I got to hold him the same day he was born! And what a cute baby! Now he is a adorable little boy!

Some things I like about Gabe:

He loves to play with balls, cars, and trains and all those things that boys like!

Gabe is an artist! He really is, not just my imagination, even if I am his Granny. Look at the photo above; he was making a house of Play-Doh. And you can see that it a house. He also loves to draw. He draws trains and train tracks , especially engines. The first time I saw his work was he was 18 months old. He has talent!

I love Gabe's smile! He smiles a lot, sometimes it is a big smile, laughing out loud. But my favorite smile is when he smiles while he is doing good things for others, or when someone praises him. I took that photo above, and I was telling how much I liked his Play-Doh house. It's a small smile, but I love it! He loves to be silly and his laugh is so natural.

He likes to play. And he plays by himself. I don't know why I like it, but I do. He would be happy to be home, playing with his toys all day, every day! I think that he is secure being him! And that's a really good thing to have.

My favorite memory of Gabe:

I was at the airport in Charlotte. I was at the top of the escalator and then I saw Katie, Colin and Gabe's shoes. That was the only things I saw, but I knew it was them. Then Gabe's little feet were running toward me! He was so little and he was so cute running. The last time I saw him he was crawling....they grow so fast! Then I realized that he remembered me! And he was happy to see me and he gave me a kiss (which was rare)!

I love you Gabe!!!! I miss you and I can't wait to see you again!

One of my favorite scriptures is 3rd John, verse 4

"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth."
And I would add; "and my children are having children!!!"

Grandchildren are the best thing about getting older. The first time I held my first grandchild (Nolan Thomas Jeppson), it was love at first sight. I never thought that the feelings would be so strong. But it was! And I get that feeling every time I meet another grandchild, at day one or at 8 1/2 years old!

I didn't know that I would love my grandkids so much! Every day I think about them and I smile! So, I decided to write about my grandchildren. One at a time. Where to start? Hmmmm.... First one? Oldest? Favorite? No, there are no favorites! So I put all the grandkids names in a bag and I will pull and I will pull one out and write about that grandchild!

So, look for "Granny's Grandkids" soon at Granny's blog!

The Trip I Forgot

I made a trip in January-February! It feels that it was so long ago! I forget lot things, but I can't believe I forgot that!

One day in January, Christie called and asked if they could visit us in Blythe!!! I was so happy! Then she told me that she was driving from Pyote to Blythe with the girls (ages: 21 months, and 7 months) WITHOUT James. I told her she was crazy! Pyote to Blythe is 831 miles...11 hours and 51 minutes according to Goggle. I told I would drive and meet them somewhere between Pyote and Blythe. She knew she could do it, and I knew she could to it, too. But I still felt like going on a trip!
(Yeah, sure! I don't like driving that much, but I love my kids and their kids)

So onJanuary 25th, we met in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the Vega family's house . I left my Astro in Elizabeth Vega's garage. We had a quick stop, changing diapers, letting Elizabeth (Blair) run around a little and Christie nursed Amelia. Elizabeth V. was a great hostess! It was great to see her, her sister Kady and a friend, Slyvan Scott who lived in Blythe for a time. After freshening up, we got in Christie's Caravan for the long trip to Blythe. *BTW, I like Dodge Caravans way more than Chevy Astros.

We thought we could drive to Blythe that night. When we hit Tuscan at sundown, we decided to get a room for the night (good decision)! Elizabeth was happy to play. It was fun to play with her and Amelia got Mommy time, which she needed! the girls got baths and put clean PJ's, we were ready for the night (especially Granny). Elizabeth and I slept in one bed, and Christie and Amelia got the other bed. We really needed that sleep! The rest of the trip was pretty good. I drove most of the time and Amelia was happy with her Mommy next to her! Eliazbeth was joyful , singing and talking most of the time! She was a champ!

We just hang out in the house mostly. Elizabeth had time to remember Granny, Grandpa, and Uncle Bryce! She loved the room to play inside and out! She loved the trampoline, the wagon, jsut running around outside. Amelia wasn't happy when Mommy wasn't close, but she tolerated Grandpa better than Granny, and Uncle Bryce didn't try! Christie got a few ittle breaks.
Then, Elizabeth got sick. It wasn't that bad, but it got worse. Even then, she was still happy most of the time.. Poor little girl! We decided to get Elizabeth home to see her doctor.

The trip to Las Cruces was good. We got a room (before ) and we had a lot of fun at the motel. We were prepared this time. We had dinner in the room; we had a fridge and microwave. We had time to play and bathe before going to bed. In the mornng we played again and after a great complimentary breakfast (fresh waffles, yogurt, fruits, eggs, bacon, toast, english muffins, muffins, pastry, milk, chocokate milk, juice cereal, did I forgot anything, Christie?) and the employees were so nice, telling to get some food for the road!), we got in our vans and we went to Walmart to find a gift for Elizabeth because it was her Birthday! (February 4th). After we said our good-byes, we went our ways. I only cried a little.

I had so much fun with Elizabeth even when she was sick, and seeing Amelia! Of course, I loved having Christie here for 10 days! And that is the last time I saw them, and I haven't seen James since Amelia was blessed in September. I'm happy that I will see them on July 16th!

Woo-hoo! I can't wait !!!!

Masonic Home Trip

I couldn't write it better than Pat wrote, so I will post some pictures of the trip.
Of course, I will make comments about the pictures!

I thought that would easy, but for a new blogger, it was hard, so the pictures aren't organized like I wanted. I worked much of the day, and I'm giving up...I have to go out of town for a Dr. app't tomorrow and then Wednesday we are going to Cortez. No more time....sorry, maybe the next blog with lots of pictures will better. BTW, Pat has a blog about the home, check it out if you haven't !

We met our hosts, Cliff and Ruth Carder

They were kind and knowledgable about the home.
We liked them from the get-go!

This is the dining room, set up for lunch!

A view of the bedroom....

and another view.

The ceramic room, there are several kilns and everything
you would need to create beautiful things!

A view of the kitchen, looking from the living room; I didn't get a good picture of the living room.

This is the BBQ area.....it is a huge area, with tables and room for bands and dancing, etc...

I would die for this exercise room! (there are more that you can't see)

All of grounds are beautiful, I really loved the roses!

This is one of the things I like...the details everywhere. This dog is in the rec room. The dog almost looks real!

The computer room.

There are 2 libraries, this one is a small one, but the books are packed in as you can see; and there are some large print.

The garden of Cliff and Ruth

One corner of the rec room....

This the weekly schedule...Wow, so many things to do and see!!

All of the grounds are clean and beautiful!
Well, that's that...it's a great place! Mom and Dad (Grandma and Grandpa) can't wait to move there!
OK, if you want to make comments, scroll way down. I know why it happened, but I don't how to fix it. I'll ask one of my kids! They know everything!

Sometimes I think my life is busy

ThEn I REaLizeEd ThAt mY LiFe is cRaZy!

January and February were calm.

March: the Coleman Family came to Blythe via Disneyland, then Lindsey and Lily came to Blythe, then the Wright Family came, too. It was a full house. We went to the Colorado River, the Fair (Uncle Bryce had a pig in the fair), played with racing cars, on the trampoline, marbleous, watched videos, had a party for Colin's 5th Birthday, we played with the the kids, some got sick , and I made stepping stones with Colin and Gabe. I got to see 5 of our grankids! It was great.

In April Bob and I went to Provo, Utah for Aaron's Graduation at BYU. Woo-hoo!!(Next: Law School) It was a short trip, but it was fun; I had 2 appointments with a doctor, we visited with Aaron and Jamie, we eat out, we shopped, we visited the Nuttall Family and Elder and Sister Berry met us at Colleen's house. We visited with Marie Jeppson, who lived close. We visited with Aunt Joyce on the way home. It was great!

May I flew to Chalrotte, North Carolina to see our new grandchildren; Yonas, Selamawit, and Yemane. I stayed with the Colemans, and I didn't tell Levi and Audra I was coming. I didn't tell Bobby and Sabina I was coming, either. It was fun to surprise them! On the 27th, Liam Jose Jeppson was born! I got to see him on his birthday! We had birthday parties for Lettie (4) and Salie (6). We went to the Botanical Gardens in Charlotte. We played on a long, huge slip-n-slide! I got to see 12 grandkids! It was great!

In June, I flew to Sacramento, then to UC Davis. Roy was graduating with his Phd. Woo-hoo! I walked 3 miles each day along the creek at UCD! It was beautiful walk! I played with Rae and Blaise, visited with Baerbel and Dale, I walked with Ashley, I helped pack and clean, we shopped, went to the Davis Farmers' Market, ate lots fresh yummy fruits, watching the grandkids on the ponies. We went to Ikea and Winco. We played in a city pool. I flew to Ontario, then stop to shop for groceries. It was great!

July: Bob and I are going to Monticello (temple and fishing) and Cortez (to see Claire) for 5 days. Bob has a conference in Phoenix and I may go with him (11th-12th). Then we will going to St. George on the 13th. Bryce is going to Dixie College and he has to go for orientation (2 day quick trip). Then on the 16th we will fly out to Charlotte for the first Bob and Linda Jeppson reunion. We will flew home on the 23rd! The whole family will be together! All 34 of us! It's gonna be the greatest! Then Bryce will pack up for High Adventure (July 28- August 1)in somewhere Utah, for a Cowboy Round-up! Sounds fun!

August: Dad has a conference in San Diego ( August 4-8) and I'm going with him. Dad went online and found stuff about Balboa Park and I will be going to museums, gardens, and concerts in the park... I can't wait! Then time to pack up for College. We(Bryce and Me) are going to BYU for Ed Week 18th-23. We are taking some girls from the ward too. We will sleep at Christie Nuttall (which was fun, having time with Christie)! After a week of learning and having fun, as we drive through St.George, I will open the door and push Bryce and say "Have a good semester, see ya!"

September: Maybe a trip to see the new Coleman baby boy! We'll see.

Now you know why I am Enjoying the Journey! Woo-hoo!
